Zero Waste!

Are you one of those people that will let bananas to go over-ripe and then chuck them into the garbage? Well, don’t reach for that trash. Peel the over-ripe banana and freeze it. You can use it in several smoothies and desserts. Here’s a great pick-me-upper smoothie either to start your day or as a bridge between your major meals.

Banana Avocado Smoothie

Smoothies are fast, fun and very tasty. They also keep all the nutrients in the food, and provide you with a proper vitamin boost. You can try this drink with all kinds of  variations. If this is for a child or a picky adult, I have used a couple dates (no sugar needed since the dates will do the job) and together with the banana, it is plenty sweet.

Last night, I made this smoothie with avocados and banana. I added some chia seeds and flax seeds before blending everything. It was very delicious and tasty! I like that we get to use an avocado in this drink and it adds to the smooth creamy texture plus getting a dose of healthy fats to jumpstart your energy levels.

Making this smoothie with ice is a nice touch on a hot day. I love the consistency and the sweetness. Plus it’s really filling.

How many times did I praise this smoothie? Still not enough. Try it out yourself and let me know.

Why is this Healthy?

This creamy avocado banana smoothie is the perfect natural pick-me-up. It’s also a delicious way to protect your heart: the monosaturated fatty acids (MUFAs) in avocados and potassium in bananas all offer cardiovascular support, while cinnamon can help lower LDL cholesterol levels. Even better, if you’re watching your waistline: MUFAs have been shown to target belly fat, so sipping on this frosty low-calorie smoothie when the temperatures rise is a good idea.

Banana-Avocado Smoothie

This Creamy Avocado Smoothie Is a delicious way to help your heart — and waistline. Avocados and almonds are high in fats and research has shown that eating a meal containing "good "fats will keep you sated for a longer period. Add a couple of dates or 1 teaspoon maple syrup or honey to make the drink sweeter. For me the sweetness of the over-ripe banana is plenty.
