If you’re looking to make an easy, nutritious side to go with your meal, this Broccoli-Cauliflower recipe is your best bet. In fact, this is one of the most loved and frequently made veggie side dishes at our place. So much so that when we invite friends or family over for dinners, I’m requested to make this dish. Works for me. It is so easy, delicious, and nutritious. Need I say more?!

Broccoli

Growing up in India I never ate broccoli – for the simple reason that it was neither grown locally nor shipped in. Even now when I visit my family in India, I don’t see broccoli being sold in regular grocery stores. I’ve heard that the high-end produce stores now carry them. In India, vegetables are mostly sold either in carts by hawkers, or in street-side kiosks. Irrespective of the time of the year, one can always find fresh, mostly seasonal vegetables, and get this: they are never refrigerated!

Easy Broccoli-Cauliflower Sauté

Ever since I moved to the US over a decade ago, I have been cooking this vegetable combo. I almost always cook broccoli with cauliflower (check out these fritters for example). Undoubtedly, this is one of the easiest recipes you would have ever tried. All you need is some fresh garlic and salt, in addition to broccoli and cauliflower florets. Just sauté crushed fresh garlic first, so it is slightly browned and then add the florets and salt.

You can eat this dish as a side. It will taste great if wrapped inside a soft tortilla for the little ones in your family. You can even add this combo into your fresh salad. Yes, you can get pretty creative with how you can relish it.

Why is this Healthy?

Broccoli is a cholesterol reducing, heart-health building, oxidative stress reducing vegetable. And there is no disputing how juicy and crunchy it tastes. The nutrition profile of cauliflower is quite impressive. Considered a super food because of its nutrient-rich content, it is high in fiber, and vitamins B and C.
